Ghetto Gospel Steals The Show

The last blog I posted complained about GHETTO GOSPEL being raised from 48 to 62 in the ratings after his first victory at Navan at the end of April – well a lot has happened since then!

Ghetto Gospel is now rated an eye watering 90 and has proved to be a revelation on the racetrack for owner Sean Jones. After his initial 14lb hike he was sent back to Navan where he continued his winning ways by claiming victory in the 1m 2f (47-70) handicap under Keagan Latham. COSMIC BREEZE provided the yard with an excellent double by winning the 5f (60-100) under Kieran O’Neil, it was great to see Cosmic win again, owned by Lynne she is a firm favourite amongst the staff at Glenburnie.

It was time for the handicapper to get busy again and he duly obliged by raising Ghetto another 12lb’s for his efforts. So next stop was Tipperary four days later where he aimed to complete the hatrick. Once again partnered by Keagan Latham, the pair were never in trouble and continued to be one step ahead of the handicapper.

So onwards and certainly upwards Ghetto set sail on the familiar path to Navan at the weekend carrying another 4lb’s and starting off a rating of 78. Looking for an incredible 4th win within 5 weeks for the Ger Lyons team, Ghetto and Keagan duly brought home another victory. Only getting going at the 2f pole the pair stretched away from the field to a very convincing win.

The inevitable has happened and Ghetto Gospel has since been raised another 12lb to leave him with a present mark of 90. A really fantastic run of performances for this Celtic Swing gelding that have given the whole team plenty to smile about.

On the home front all is well, both humans and horses are in good form and the yard, as usual, is running like clockwork. The season is well under way and we are beginning to send out plenty of runners, the majority of our 2yr olds are still to make their course debuts but we’re happy with how all of the preparations are going at home. We have some exciting races coming up for the yard and with Royal Ascot just around the corner I hope that I’ll be writing about some smart performances in the coming weeks.
